First of all I would like to thank my brother Ed/N4JTP and my YL Bonnie for their help.
Additionally, Gary Hadduk for the support from the crane service. This was the first
time that I had used a crane service. It was the easiest installation that I have ever
had.
First two pictures show the feed through for the coax and control lines go into the
shack. The additional two pics show the 1:1 Coax Balun I made one for both the
10M and 15M antennas.
General pics of the crane and activities leading up to the installation.
Right about here it started to ge a little "arnie" or should I say "hairy"! The
minimum/highest point on the installation was at 81' (tower and mast lengths). It
appeared that we had reached the height limit of the 84' crane. As you can see in the
following pics, we were about 18" short. I really thought we were going to have to
bring it back down and put the jib extension on the crane. However, Gary kept fiddling
with the boom and managed to get to clear the entry point of the tower just barely
with 1.5" to spare.
The finished jobs! 10M and 15M installed.
The last pic showed the installed 4 additional sections of Rohn 45 on an existing 4
sections. This brings the tower up to 76' (approx). Have two more section to
put on this tower that will bring it up to 96'. This tower will be home to the 40-
2CD and a stack of two 204BA.
Will probably do something similiar and preassemble the two sections, then the 40M
beam and finally one of the 20M antennas and then put the whole kit-n-kaboutle up at
one time with the crane service.
Definitely a work in progress!!
